Welcome!

Welcome to The Vietnam War Era. What was once a Tumblr blog is now a dedicated site all its own. This evolution has long been a goal of mine. I hope that many who are familiar with my work on Tumblr continue to support this necessary growth, and I hope to welcome many new viewers and voices as I continue to grow my vision.

I would like to take this opportunity to outline exactly what my vision is and the ways in which I plan to accomplish that vision. All of this information is available on the website's About page.

Mission

  1. To make the history of the war accessible to the public;

  2. To dispel misconceptions about the war;

  3. To honor the experiences of the people of all sides of the conflict;

  4. To discuss the history and memory of the war in constructive ways.

This is no small feat. Over the past years I have developed a few methods I intend to continue here on the website that will meet this mission. I also have some new ways in which I will be meeting my mission.

Plan of Action

  • Overviews of military operations and battles (Mission points 1, 2, 3)

  • Articles discussing distinct topics (Mission points 1, 2, 3, 4)

  • Reviews of books (Mission points 1, 4)

  • Addressing questions asked by readers (Mission points 1, 2, 3, 4)

  • Small biographies of influential people of the war, of all sides (Mission points 1, 2, 3)

  • Making information sources clear (Mission point 1)

  • Blog posts (Mission point 4)

The plan is adaptable, as is the mission. I plan to review progress annually and adjust accordingly. Any adjustments will be documented here, in a similar blog post, to ensure transparency of process.

All questions, comments, and concerns are welcome, whether they regard this post or the site at large.

All support is welcome, though what is most needed now is to get the word out! Share the site with your friends, and please feel free to engage with me on Twitter or Tumblr.
