USMC 1st Battalion 26th Marines; ROK Marines 2nd Brigade

USMC 5 KIA, 39 WIA; ROK 1 KIA, 5 WIA

Viet Cong

Enemy Casualties:

293 KIA, 6 POW

Objective(s):

Amphibious assault to confront the VC forces on the island

Significance/Notes:

This was the first ever amphibious assault performed by the ROK Marines. A landing force swept across the island while naval craft blocked escape routes. The enemy offered little resistance. Over 100 weapons were captured, along with ammunition.
